USM Herbarium Collection

The initial function of Herbarium USM was to provide specimens for teaching and local research activities. As it grows over the years, Herbarium has been playing a significant role in supporting research activities for other institutions especially in the northern region. To date, the collections have reached over 11,623 specimens from 200 families. The major groups are bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms. The database for Herbarium USM is managed using the Warehouse Management System, is a simple and affordable system.
